Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime vs QMobile Noir Z8 Comparision

QMobile released Noir Z8 which we reviewed, a couple of weeks ago. Samsung has announced Grand Prime which has “similar” specs as compared to QMobile Noir Z8. Today We’re going to compare Galaxy Grand Prime vs Noir Z8. We’ll talk about the similarities and differences between these two devices.

What is similar among Galaxy Grand Prime and Noir Z8

  • Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime and QMobile Noir Z8 has same Chipset which is a 64 bit Quad Core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and has adreno 306 GPU.
  • Both phones have 5 Mega-Pixel Wide angle front facing camera which is always a good selfie shooter.
  • 5 Inch display panel is also another similarity, But the resolution and technology used in both are different.
  • Both the Galaxy Grand Prime and Noir Z8 offer really good battery backup, despite having slightly different batteries powering them.
  • Both phones are running same android version which is 4.4.4 Kitkat.
  • Noir Z8 as well as Grand prime supports 4G LTE on both sims and both sims are micro-sim on either side.

  • QMobile Noir Z8’s 2nd sim slot is a 2-in-1 slot which accepts MicroSD card or Nano sim. Which means that you can not use dualsim functionality in Noir Z8 if you choose to insert a MicroSD Card in it. Samsung Galaxy Grand prime has dualsim slots and a separate MicroSD card slot.

Noir Z8 vs Galaxy Grand Prime.

Attention: The internal data of table “21” is corrupted!

Final verdict

If you really need Removable battery and need separate slot for SD Card and Dual SIM. Galaxy Grand prime is a good phone for your. But if you don’t require SD Card or can sacrifice 2nd sim slot for SD Card, Noir Z8 is a very good phone and provides good bang for the buck.

Qmobile Noir Z8 Full Review, Specs, Pros, Cons

Just yesterday, Qmobile released it’s latest smartphone Noir Z8, which created quite a buzz in smartphone freaks. All the buzz was for its specs, review and most importantly honest Pros and cons of Qmobile Noir Z8.

Yesterday I purchased Qmobile Noir Z8 and used it for an entire day. Just for purpose of making this post. I ran Antutu Benchmark on it, and used some day-to-day apps. Overall the phone was good to use, details are given below.

Qmobile Noir Z8 has very slim profile, its thickness is only 7.5 mm, moreover the corners of Z8 are curved from the back which makes it feel even slimmer than it’s actual thickness. Sides are made of metal which adds up to the overall feel in the hand. The corners of the phone are too squarish which I personally don’t like. Over the display you get a 5 Megapixels selfie camera with Earpiece speaker and a bunch of sensors. I personally felt that the chin (the area below display) of Noir Z8 is bigger, which made the phone longer than what it should have been. I would have loved to see smaller bezels around the display like Moto X and LG G2.

Back of the phone has a sand stone finish which is directly taken from the OnePlus One. I liked the texture of the back panel. The primary camera at the back is a 13 Megapixel shooter which has an LED flash and Autofocus. lower part of the back has a speaker grill which is neither much loud, nor much clear. Just an average speaker.

Though the rear facing camera is a 13 megapixel shooter but I was very disappointed with the performance of the Camera. The shots I took in Day time was very good but the camera struggled to focus in low light and the shots came very blurry. The camera doesn’t have Optical Image Stabilization which makes even harder to keep it stable while it takes the shot. The color reproduction is good but still there is a lot of room for improvement. I personally felt that the camera is just average.

Front camera on the other hand is a 5 megapixel Fixed Focus camera. The selfies I took came okish and nothing much to say about that. Considering the price point, I wouldn’t expect the camera to stand out. But yeah If you are looking for a smartphone which can also take some great pictures, you have to look somewhere else.

Front of Noir Z8 has a 5 inch 1280x720p IPS LCD Display. Some sites are reporting that Noir Z8 has an AMOLED panel, which is nothing but a false statement. The reason behind this misconception is that the color reproduction and black level on Noir Z8 are sort of what you get from an AMOLED display. There is an option to make the color look more vivid than their actual shade.

Qmobile Noir Z8 Screen options

Resolution is a little towards lower side and you do see some pixelation but if you are not user of Full HD, you wouldn’t be able to locate that “Pixelation”. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has very smooth feel.

Qmobile Noir Z8 comes with Kitkat, which is a 32 bit Operating system. Though the chipset is 64-bit but the OS is not able to squeeze the additional bits. The real performance of a 64-bit chip will only come up, if the OS is 64-bit. I found some lags but I believe that these hiccups are because of bad optimization of the OS. I did ran Antutu Benchmark on Noir Z8 and these are the results.

Qmobile Noir Z8 Performance (4) Qmobile Noir Z8 multi touch Performance Qmobile Noir Z8 Performance antutu Qmobile Noir Z8 Specs

Qmobile Noir Z8 comes loaded with Android KitKat 4.4.4 and there are no statements about Lollipop updates. The software is more of like a Pre-Production software. You do get some crashes here and there. Hope Qmobile will listen to its customers and provide updates. Speaking of updates, The moment I connected My Noir Z8 with internet, I received a small OTA update weighing 8.02 MBs. That is why I Hope Qmobile will listen to us.

Qmobile Noir Z8 has 2420mah lithium polymer battery which is embedded into the device. In other words the battery in Non-removable. Battery life of Noir Z8 is very good. I am very impressed with the battery backup it has to offer. I was able to squeeze about 9 hours of screen on time, with wifi ON, Facebook and browsing with lowest possible brightness. One thing that I would like to mention here is that Noir Z8’s Battery doesn’t go really dim. It stays readable outdoors in the afternoon time. Battery is awesome and phone is also neither bulky, nor thick by any means.

QMobile X800 Review And Hands On

Today we picked the latest QMobile smartphone x800 for reviewing it from every angle so you people got every pros and cons about it. QMobile x800 is a second octa core smartphone launched by QMobile recently. There are two models of x800, the one which was earlier released comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage and the other which we are going to review today is loaded with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.

Design & Look

QMobile is the leading smartphone selling company currently in pakistan and focusing on the mid-end smartphones loaded with mediatek processors. QMobile X800 is also a mid-end smartphone with some great specs in reasonable price. We got a chance to feel and use this great smartphone by QMobile and the first thing which impresses us a lot is the slim and sleek designed look of it. It was a premium feel when we was holding and using this device. It has a premium body with metal corners inside and its 7.6 mm slim as well.

QMobile X800 comes with a 4.7 inches screen having the HD IPS display. X800 gives much brighter display in both high light and low light. The pixels are soften and not so sharp. X800’s 4.7″ screen helps in power saving and also in gripping the phone easily with soft hands. Its graphics are average and not matches the standard of hardware it offers.

Now come to the hardware which backed up and fitted in x800. Talking about the processor first, x800 is powered by a 1.4Ghz octa core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and a MALI  MP42 GPU. QMobile unlike its first model of x800 gives 16GB internal memory this time instead of 8GB. This 16GB storage can be expanded upto 64GB via micro-sdcard. It also have 3G connectivity and dual sim support.

When we use this device, we didn’t feel any lag or glitch and it was very fast moving from one app to another app and vice versa. We did a full test of performance by opening as much app as we can and then playing games and it passes our test successfully so in terms of performance x800 will never disappoint you.

QMobile cameras are not always good which is a bitter truth. Their smartphones with same cameras differ in result always for example we have used A900, A600 and A20 and all three of them have same 8MP rear camera but A20 always produce picture with better pixels and result as compared to both. But surprisingly x800 have a great shooter and its result is slightly better than the results of  other 13MP camera phones of QMobile. X800 have a 13MP rear camera with led flash and auto-focus and OIS feature which produces the image of  4128 x 3096 pixels. A 5MP front facing camera is also there for video calling and taking great selfies. We are sharing some camera samples of day light below.

Battery & Operating System

QMobile X800 comes with 2000mAh lion battery which is non-removable. X800 really disappointed us when we checked it’s battery saving capability. We charged it 100% and leaves it on idle whole night and when we checked it on morning, it decreases to 89% without using it or letting any app open although it charges fast. It provides 5-6 hours battery backup on continuously usage and if you use it like a normal user, it’s battery lasts long upto 1 day.

QMobile X800 comes with 4.4.2 kitkat with all the Qapps which are useless in our views. QMobile is still behind in modifying the UI of their smartphones as other sister companies like Gionee modifies the ui of their smartphones and named the new modified OS as “Amigo OS”. X800 comes with stock mediatek kitkat experience which you can see in every ordinary mediatek smartphone. Despite of the bloatware, x800 gives amazing performance and browsing speed. What ever you do with it, 995mb to 1.0gb RAM will always remains free. We are below sharing antutu benchmark and Quadrant benchmarks results.

Benchmark Tests

Price & Availability

QMobile x800 1GB RAM version smartphone price is 19000 PKR and the version we reviewed above that is 2GB RAM version is priced at 21500 PKR which is decent as compared to its specs. It is currently available in all local markets around the country. It comes with 2 colors which are black and white.

Our Verdict

QMobile X800 is overall an amazing smartphone with some decent specs and hardware, despite of its battery draining in idle problem it is really a great smartphone in reasonable price. We have personally used this set and if you are willing to try this smartphone then go ahead.

Special thanks to Maaz Azhar (group member) for allowing us to use and review his x800.
